JEREMY BEST SENTENCED TO THREE CONSECUTIVE LIFE SENTENCES
DRIGGS, IDAHO. Today, after a two-day sentencing hearing in Teton County, Idaho, Jeremy Albert Best, 50, was sentenced by Seventh Judicial District Judge Dane H. Watkins, Jr., to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for First Degree Murder in the death of 10 month old Zeke Best, and Second Degree Murder in the deaths of his wife Kali Best and her unborn child, Freya.
The sentences were handed down after the testimony of 18 witnesses, and the victim impact statements of five family members.
Teton County Prosecuting Attorney Bailey Smith Baker stated “This was the justice we hoped for. We are pleased that the Court gave a life sentence for each victim, and we will sleep tonight knowing the Defendant will never be able to do this to anyone else.”
Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Randy Neal stated these horrific crimes were particularly severe because of the tremendous ripple effect it had on our communities.
“This crime affected everyone who knew and loved Kali and Zeke, the law enforcement and first responders, and the citizens of Teton and Bonneville counties,” Neal said, “They all became victims of Jeremy Best’s crimes.”
The Prosecuting Attorneys also thank their law enforcement partners for the thousands of hours put into the investigation and preparation of this case.
