CRIMINAL COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST ROBERT ALAN FLORES, JR.
IDAHO FALLS, IDAHO. Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Randy Neal has filed a criminal complaint against Robert Alan Flores, Jr. for six counts of Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officers, and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, based on an incident which occurred April 8, 2024, at the Econolodge in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Each of the Aggravated Assault charges carry a maximum 10-year sentence and an additional enhancement penalty of 15 years for use of a firearm, for a potential sentence of 25 years.
Prosecutor Neal also filed notice that the State would seek a persistent violator enhancement, which increases the potential penalty to life in prison.
On April 10, 2024, Seventh District Court Senior Magistrate Judge Mark Rammell set bail at $1,000,000.
Bail was set based on an affidavit from Idaho Falls Police Detective Overby outlining Flores’ criminal history, which includes over fifty criminal cases.
Flores was out on bail facing a total of eight charges in Bonneville and Bingham counties when police report that he fired at them during a standoff in an Econolodge hotel room.
Police report that Flores has been involved in three SWAT standoffs in the last five months.
Bonneville County court records show that on December 15, 2023, Flores was charged with two counts of Battery Against Health Care Workers and Burglary.
On December 26, 2023, Flores was arrested on these charges after a SWAT Team standoff.
Flores made his initial appearance in Magistrate Court for these charges and a no-contact order was issued. Bond was set at $50,000.00.
On February 2, 2024, Flores posted a Surety Bond in that case for $50,000.00 and was released.
On February 21, 2024, a new case was filed against Flores for offenses allegedly committed against the same victim while out on bond: Witness Intimidation, Stalking in the First Degree, and two counts of No Contact Order Violation.
Flores was subsequently arrested again after a second SWAT team standoff.
On February 26, 2024, Flores made an initial appearance for the new charges and the Court set bond at $50,000.00 in the new case.
However, on February 27, 2024, the Bonneville County Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Flores’ bond in the December case based on violating conditions of release after being charged with new crimes against same victim.
In response, the Court revoked bond and on March 7, 2024, a magistrate judge ordered a no bond hold pending an appearance before the District Judge.
On March 8, 2024, a new bond was set at $50,000.00 by the District Judge.
On March 21, 2024, Flores posted the $50,000.00 Surety Bond in each case for a total of $100,000 and was released.
Bond is set by the judge based on several factors found in the Court’s rules, but primarily involve threats to the community or risk of flight.
